Add a text or logo watermark to one photo or a whole batch. It all happens in your browser, so your photos are never uploaded.
- Nothing uploaded
- Nothing of ours added to your photos
- Original pixel size kept
Free: up to 50 photos per run, and runs are unlimited. No watermark of ours on your photos, ever. Original pixel size; JPEG and WebP are re-encoded at the quality you choose.

How to add a text or logo watermark to your photos
A watermark generator puts your name, brand or logo on top of a picture. A visible watermark shows who made the work and discourages reuse. Use the watermark generator at the top of this page: it runs in your browser, so your photos stay on your device.
Text or logo
Text is the quickest choice: your name, your website or a copyright line. Pick a font, set the colour, and switch on the outline or the shadow when a photo has both bright and dark areas, so the words stay readable.
A logo suits you better if you already have a brand mark. Upload a PNG, SVG or JPEG. A PNG or SVG can have a transparent background; a JPEG cannot, so it arrives as a rectangle. The logo watermark guide shows how to prepare the file.
Size, position and opacity
Size is a percentage of the photo's width, so portrait and landscape shots, large and small, all get a mark in the same proportion. We start at 25 percent of the width, bottom right, with a 3 percent margin and half opacity. Change any of them and the preview updates.
Choose one of nine positions or drag the mark into place. Turn on tile mode to repeat the mark across the whole picture, with the gap, stagger and angle you set. A corner mark is quiet and covers one small area. A tiled mark covers the whole frame.
What happens to quality and colour
Your photo keeps its original pixel size. JPEG and WebP files are saved again at the quality you choose; the default is 92 percent. A phone records which way is up as a small orientation flag. We apply it before drawing the mark, so portrait shots stay upright and the mark lands where the preview showed it.
Colours are handled in sRGB, the default colour space of a browser's drawing canvas, so a photo in a wider space such as Display P3 is converted and its most saturated colours can shift slightly. Browsers also cap the size of a picture they can draw: roughly 268 million pixels in Chrome and Edge, and roughly 67 million on current iPhones and iPads. A photo above the cap is skipped, and the file list says why.
Metadata and location
Camera and copyright metadata are kept; maker notes, thumbnails and colour profiles are not. GPS location data is left out of the saved copy by default, and you can switch that off. To add your own name and licensing details, use the copyright metadata tool: it writes them into the file without touching its pixels.
Batches and downloads
Add a batch of photos and watch each file's progress in the list; anything that cannot be processed is listed with the reason. Download files one by one or as a ZIP. Very large downloads are split into several ZIP files so that a phone does not run out of memory. In browsers that offer a folder picker, such as Chrome and Edge on a computer, Pro can save straight into a folder.
File types
The generator reads JPEG, PNG, WebP and GIF files, and a GIF uses its first frame. Safari 17 and later can also open HEIC photos; Chrome, Edge and Firefox are reported not to (see the browser support data), and the file list says so when a file cannot be opened. Output keeps the input's format unless you choose another, and a GIF or HEIC photo is saved as PNG when it has transparency and as JPEG when it does not.
Questions
- Are my photos uploaded?
- No. Everything runs in your browser. The privacy page lists what runs on your device and the only two requests our server receives, and shows how to check it yourself.
- How many photos can I watermark?
- Free: up to 50 photos per run, and runs are unlimited. No watermark of ours on your photos, ever. Original pixel size; JPEG and WebP are re-encoded at the quality you choose. Pro lifts the batch limit and adds dynamic text, so a mark can carry the file name, the date, the year or a running number.
- Will my photos lose quality?
- The pixel size does not change, and PNG is never lossy. JPEG and WebP are saved again, which always changes the file a little, so choose a higher quality for a closer match.
- Does it work on a phone?
- Yes, in a current browser. It relies on a browser feature that arrived in Safari 16.4, Chrome 69, Edge 79 and Firefox 105, so recent versions of all four work. The watermark app page has the details.
- Can I save my settings?
- Yes. Presets are stored on your device. You can keep three, export them as a file and import them on another device. Pro lifts the limit on presets.
